Matthew Perry had some quality family time a week before his untimely death.
The late Friends star—who died on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the age of 54—took to social media last week to share a sweet visit he had with his father, John Bennett Perry.
In the Instagram upload, which showed Matthew wrapping an arm around his 82-year-old father, the 17 Again actor wrote, "Here is me, and my father John, both holding a beverage."
For those unfamiliar with the Perry family, John is also an actor, having appeared in films like 1976's Lipstick, 1996's Independence Day, and 1997's George of the Jungle.
You may've also seen John in episodes of The West Wing, L.A. Law, Days of Our Lives, Little House on the Prairie, among others.
On Saturday, Oct. 28, it was reported that Matthew had passed away at his Los Angeles, Calif. home. According to multiple reports, he was treated by first responders after he was found in his jacuzzi.
Despite his very public battle with alcohol and drug addiction—which he addressed in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir—no foul play is currently suspected.
In the aforementioned book, Perry detailed a previous near-death experience that he faced back in 2018. According to Perry, while living in a sober living house in California, his colon "exploded" after years of past opioid use.
The medical event left him in a coma for two weeks and with a five-month stay in the hospital. "I had been on opiates, and off opiates, and back on different opiates for so long that I suffered from a situation that only a subset of the population gets," Perry recalled. "Opiates cause constipation. It's kind of poetic. I was so full of s--t it almost killed me."
