Mayim Bialik shares her hair extensions secret
Mayim Bialik just revealed a big beauty secret.
The Big Bang Theory alum, who is currently one of the hosts of Jeopardy!, took to Instagram on Friday to share a video of the inside her dressing room.
“You know how they sometimes say, ‘You don’t want to see how the sausage is made?’” Bialik said, before revealing a wall of hair pieces.
Bialik captioned the post, “People may not know I have short hair under all those extensions. LOL.”
Fans of the star were intrigued by the reveal. One wrote in the comments section, “I’m not sure why you’re wearing extensions for the show. Your own hair is so much prettier than your hair with extensions.” Another added, “I have no idea how extensions work but you always look darling. I think it’s really the smile.”
Bialik, whose career started as a child star on shows like Webster and Blossom, previously spoke about pressure to change her image. In a July 2022 conversation with Justin Long on his podcast Life Is Short, she said that she “probably would have asked for plastic surgery” had she grown up with social media because it would have exacerbated her existing insecurities.
“A lot of girls would get a nose job at 16 in a lot of circles,” she explained. “I definitely wished I had a different face, which I think is also, a lot of kids go through that, boys and girls. I do think, if social media had existed, I don’t know if that pressure would not have gotten to me in a way where I would have said, ‘I can do it different.’”
In March 2021, she used her mental health-focused podcast Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown to speak about her experience with an eating disorder and the unhealthy comparisons to others in the entertainment industry.
"I'm trying to release the pressure of being 15 pounds lighter, which is what I, quote, 'should be' by Hollywood standards," she told guest Glennon Doyle. "I'm trying to release the pressure of caring that I'm wearing the clothes that make me look like those other women, even though I'm not those other women.”
