McDonald's Fans Excited for Newest Sweet Treat: 'It's Like a Golden Girl McFlurry'
A Happy Meal and McFlurry
McDonald's is debuting yet another sweet treat, just in time for summer.
The fast food chain has announced it is dropping an unexpected limited-edition flavor starting on May 21 that fans are excited about: the Grandma McFlurry.
Offered as a limited-time item, the sweet treat is said to take inspiration from elderly mother figures, as it combines a “delicious syrup” and crunchy candy pieces—“like grandma's favorite treat that she hid in her purse!”—with vanilla soft serve, according to a press release.

The ice cream dessert aims to be “sweet—just like grandma.”
“The Grandma McFlurry tastes like a trip down memory lane, and we’re excited to give our fans that experience while honoring the grandma-figure in all our lives," the brand's Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer Tariq Hassan promised in the release.
He noted that the flavor innovation comes as the grandma aesthetic is currently "having a major moment influencing culture" across social media and beyond.
On Instagram, fans seemed to be receptive to the new offering, commenting under a post shared by food blogger Markie Devo with excitement.
"It’s like a Golden Girl McFlurry and ofc I’m SO here for it ??," one said, while another theorized, "Sounds fire, I bet it’s a butterscotch flavor because old folks always have those candy’s [sic]."
