Meet the Children of Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester

1 of 4

Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester, and Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester, married in 1972. Prince Richard never expected to take on the Duke of Gloucester title. However, after the tragic early death of his older brother, Prince William of Gloucester, he resigned from his job as an architect and took on royal duties, and inherited his father's dukedom two years later.

Richard is the grandson of King George V and Queen Mary, and therefore, his children use the last name Windsor. (Unlike the children and grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth, who, if they need a surname, use Mountbatten-Windsor.) The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester have three children: Alexander Windsor, the Earl of Ulster, Lady Davina Windsor, and Lady Rose Windsor. Here, get to know the Duke of Gloucester's children.
