At 25, Lulu LaFortune already has her finger firmly on the pulse, or rather, the armchair, as she reveals her second furniture collection. Just last year, LaFortune launched her eponymous design house after a stint at Kelly Wearstler's studio, where she worked on the Santa Monica Proper Hotel. While starting a business in the middle of the pandemic was daunting, LaFortune had one very important thing going for her: people wanted to buy furniture. And not just any furniture, happy items that would freshen up the spaces where they now spent more time than ever. Her debut collection, aptly named Joie de Vivre, made a splashy color-saturated debut and it was clear that she was onto something.

Now, LaFortune is releasing her second collection, Le Passé est Présent, with seven pieces made by L.A. artisans that mix early 1800s craft with 2021 sensibility (and in case you have doubts that this will be a winning combination, consider Bridgerton).

Her breakout hit, the Watts lamp, is being released in new hues while she steps further into furniture with a puffy, robin egg blue Club Chair. "That took so long to get just right," she says. "So, I am really excited for it. The benefit of working with people nearby is we can easily have that back and forth to get it perfect." The Club Chair, along with the rest of the collection, are equally suited to comfy selfies as they are for gossip-laden parties worthy of Lady Whistledown, which is to say, it's exactly what we want in our homes now.
