Meghan and Harry's Wedding Photog Shares Details
Alexi Lubomirski, the photographer behind Meghan and Harry's royal wedding portraits, said he had hardly any time to take that famous shot of the two of them slumped on the Windsor Castle steps.
"We went out there and had about three and a half minutes to take some quick shots because everything was running like clockwork," Lubomirski, who also shot their engagement photos, said.
The photo, which has 2.3 million likes on the Kensington Palace Instagram (not even beginning to tally the number of other accounts who posted the photo themselves), was a totally spontaneous moment.
"It was just one of those magical moments when you're a photographer and everything falls into place," Lubomirski said. "I said 'just before you go in, sit on those stairs.' And she just slumped between his legs and there was this moment where they were just laughing because they were exhausted and thinking finally it's all over. It was one of these beautiful moments."
Lubomirski also took the more formal portraits in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle. There's the one of Meghan and Harry with their gaggle of page boys and bridesmaids, and another with the whole crew.
"I didn't want it to feel like a sports team photo or an army photo, regimented and linear," Lubomirski told the BBC.
When he posted the photos to his own social media, he said it was an "honor and privilege" to document the couple's love story. "This has been a beautiful chapter in my career and life, that I will happily never forget."
