Meghan & Harry Just Donated to a Children's Charity in Archie's Name
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are currently spending the holiday season quietly in California with their son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to make a very special donation to a New Zealand charity to help those in need over Christmas.
According to the New Zealand Herald, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reached out to Make Give Live, a "Kiwi knitwear social enterprise," to purchase 100 hats in their son's name. Claire Conza, the organization's founder, told the New Zealand Herald, "As Make Give Live operates on a buy one, give one model, this will allow the group to make an extra 200 hats to distribute to families in need next winter through the various charities it supports."
The publication also noted that Conza received a letter from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex regarding the purchase, which she called a "wonderful gift for the organization."
On New Year's Day, Meghan and Harry shared an adorable photo of baby Archie in Canada on their now-defunct Instagram account. In the sweet snap, taken by his mom and featuring his dad, Archie wore a woollen hat from Make Give Live, giving the organization a global platform. "Demand for the hats have continued throughout the year and the sales have created an opportunity to support even more Kiwis through a tough 2020," Conza told the New Zealand Herald.
According to Conza, the letter from the Sussexes revealed, "It said [Prime Minister] Jacinda Ardern had let them know we were trying to get in touch and that Archie continues to wear our beanies as they have one in every size."
