The public hasn’t seen much of Meghan Markle in 2020 — and, as it turns out, for good reason. Amid announcements that she and Prince Harry are stepping down as “senior” members of the royal family in favor of a move to North America, Markle has been spotted only twice this year.
As the duchess wraps up her royal duties, her latest appearance honored women and girls everywhere.
Yesterday, The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle visited to discuss climate justice for girls and the rights of Indigenous peoples. Was great to talk about the importance of a holistic approach to social justice, and the power of young women’s leadership. #DuchessOfSussex pic.twitter.com/M9LaqEELl7

Appearing at a talk for charity organization Justice for Girls, Markle wore a pair of gold and diamond studs that were more than just pretty and sparkly. The earrings are named after the Greek goddess Hera, who was the protector of women, presiding over marriages and births. Markle attended the event to celebrate the inspiring qualities of some of the country’s young people and the carers who work tirelessly to support them.
The 14-carat gold disc earrings are embellished with super sparkly pavé diamonds for a look that’s glam but sophisticated. She’s worn the Hera earrings twice before — once to the WellChild Awards in October, and just ten days later to a roundtable on gender equality. She’s certainly a fan!

“I’m really honored to see The Duchess of Sussex wearing a pair of my earrings for the fourth time, this time from the new Hera collection,” says designer Emily Mortimer. “I admire how much Meghan is empowering women through her work with various charities and am so pleased she has chosen to wear earrings from a collection that was designed to celebrate all women.”
