Meghan Markle Just Followed *This* Royal Protocol for the First Time

Meghan Markle is no stranger to breaking royal protocol (hey there, messy buns) but it looks like the newlywed Duchess of Sussex might be toning down her rebel nature now that she's officially part of the royal family.

At Prince Charles's 70th Birthday Patronage Ceremony (the first event of many planned in the six months leading up to the Prince of Wales's 70th birthday blowout), Markle was spotted wearing pantyhose for the first time. How scandalous mundane.

While most of the world has long thought of pantyhose as being outdated and dowdy, the women of the royal family still consistently wear them with any short dresses and skirts. Kate Middleton rocks them and makes them look–dare we say–sort of chic.

For her first public outing as an official royal, just one day after her wedding to Prince Harry, Markle seems to have taken a page out of Princess Kate's wardrobe opting for a look that's noticeably more traditional. Her pastel pink hat and matching A-line dress could've been picked right out of K-Middy's closet.

And although wearing pantyhose isn't an explicit royal rule (unlike the ban on selfies), it is expected of anyone who gets to call the queen grandma. That sounds like a pretty fair tradeoff to us.
