Meghan Markle Was Not a Part of the Queen's Royal Family Summit
Duchess Meghan did not end up phoning in to Queen Elizabeth’s royal family meeting at Sandringham yesterday.
“In the end, the Sussexes decided that it wasn’t necessary for the duchess to join,” a royal aide tells BAZAAR.com.
Contrary to previous expectations, Duchess Meghan was not a part of the queen’s family summit at Sandringham yesterday.
Princes Charles, William, and Harry were all in attendance, alongside the queen, for a high-stakes meeting regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to step down as senior members of the royal family. Meghan was initially expected to dial in to the meeting via a phone call since she is currently back in Canada with her and Harry’s son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

Queen Elizabeth made an official statement regarding the Sussexes’ stepping down a mere five days after their initial announcement on Instagram. The queen expressed that she supports Harry and Meghan’s decision to split their time between the United States and Canada, but would have preferred for them to remain as senior-ranking, working royals.
“My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family,” the queen’s statement read. “It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK. These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”
