Meghan Markle Pairs a Bright Red Coat with a Purple Dress in Birkenhead
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are back to work with their first joint engagement of 2019. Today, the couple is hitting the ground running with royal duties, with a number of events scheduled during their visit to Birkenhead, a town right outside of Liverpool.
For their jam-packed day, the Duchess of Sussex wore a long red coat by Sentaler with matching heels. Underneath, she wore a striking purple dress from Babaton by Aritizia. She also toted a brown leather Gabriela Hearst bag:
According to royal correspondent Omid Scobie, the duke and duchess' itinerary includes seeing a new sculpture commemorating poet Wilfred Owen, participating in a walkabout, visiting Tomorrow's Women, a charity supporting women who want to make positive life changes, and stopping by The Hive, a center for youth with disabilities.
Duchess Meghan actually had a surprise engagement last week with a visit to Smart Works, an organization that helps women prep for job interviews and provides them with professional clothing. The charity is one of Meghan's first royal patronages, which were revealed last week and also include Association of Commonwealth Universities, The Mayhew, and the National Theatre.
For the previously unannounced engagement, the duchess looked stylish in an Oscar de la Renta trench coat, which she layered over a black short sleeve maternity dress and cow-printed pumps.
Meghan has a few more royal work commitments scheduled for this week, including visiting The Mayhew, an animal welfare charity, on Wednesday and attending the premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem in support of Sentebale, Prince Harry's charity supporting children affected by HIV in Lesotho and Botswana.
