Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Adopted a Labrador Retriever
There’s yet another addition to the royal family. Ahead of their first 100 days of marriage, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly adopted a dog to add to their growing family. The puppy, supposedly a Labrador Retriever, has already made Kensington Palace its home.
The palace declined to speak on the topic of the pooch itself, but the furry friend is apparently living its best life with the royals.
“The dog is already happily ensconced at their cottage,” a source told the Daily Mail this weekend. “Like the Sussexes, the dog will divide its time between the palace and their country home in the Cotswolds.”
Markle and Harry are already parents to her Beagle named Guy. Sadly, the Duchess of Sussex had to leave her other dog, Bogart—a Labrador-Shepherd mix—behind in Toronto when she had to move into the palace with her husband. According to multiple outlets, Bogart was too old to make the trip and now lives with friends of the Suits alum.
She touched on the topic in her engagement interview last fall. “Well, I have two dogs that I’ve had for quite a long time, both my rescue pups,” she said. “And one is now staying with very close friends and my other little guy is—yes he’s in the U.K., he’s been here for a while. I think he’s doing just fine.”
The Daily Mail reports that Markle treats her dogs with utmost care, feeding the puppies organic food and taking them on long walks through the grounds of the palace.
The new puppy isn’t the first dog to be adopted by Markle. The former actress hand-selected Guy from an organization based in Ontario called A Dog’s Dream Rescue. He now lives his best life, even riding in the car with the Queen on the way to the royal wedding.
