Call her the barefoot Countess-a. Beloved celebrity chef Ina Garten may have been the one to provide the roast chicken recipe for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on the night they got engaged.

Garten, otherwise known as the Barefoot Contessa, took to Twitter on Tuesday, November 28, to congratulate the British royal and his future wife. On Monday night, the couple shared one particularly sweet and relatable snippet from Prince Harry’s cozy and private proposal: the involvement of homemade roast chicken.

“What were we doing?” Markle recalled to BBC on Monday. “Roasting chicken and—trying to roast a chicken, and it just—just an amazing surprise. It was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got on one knee.”

“Congratulations to Prince Harry and Meghan!” the Food Network personality wrote. “I always knew roast chicken had magic powers!! I’m so happy for both of you!”

In fact, Markle has spoken out about roast chicken in the past, citing Garten’s recipe as her favorite. “There is nothing as delicious (or as impressive) as a perfectly roasted chicken,” she told Good Housekeeping. “If you have an Ina Garten–level roasted-chicken recipe, it’s a game changer. I bring that to dinner parties and make a lot of friends.”

Garten responded to the link in an interview with People on Wednesday. “I think people feel really taken care of when you make a roast chicken,” she said. “They feel really nourished both mentally and physically, and it just seemed like a really sweet moment. I thought that was wonderful… Who knew if you make my chicken you could end up marrying a prince? An adorable prince at that!”

The recipe involves a five-to-six pound roasting chicken, as well as savory ingredients like thyme, lemon, butter, Spanish onion and garlic. Click here for the full recipe from Garten’s 1999 cookbook.
