Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Shared an Adorable New Photo of Archie for New Year's
Kate Middleton and Prince William aren't the only royals to share a new family portrait for the holiday on their royal Instagram. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took a moment to post one on their Instagram too ahead of New Year's Eve. The couple posted a highlight reel of their year, which included a new shot of Harry with Archie in the video. It comes days after their electronic Christmas card, featuring a new Archie photo, started circulating around Instagram.
Meghan and Harry wrote in their SussexRoyal account caption, "Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and thanking you for your continued support! We’ve loved meeting so many of you from around the world and can’t wait to meet many more of you next year. We hope 2020 brings each of you health and continued happiness.”
The two did not spend their Christmas with the Queen this year in Sandringham. They have been in Canada, where they will reportedly remain tonight to celebrate New Year's.
Their spokesperson confirmed ahead of Christmas that the couple and Archie are abroad there.
"As has been reported, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending private time in Canada. The decision to base themselves in Canada reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both. Whilst this emails confirms the country they are taking their family time in, for security reasons we will not be releasing any further details and request that their privacy is respected," the spokesperson said in a statement royal reporter Omid Scobie posted to his Twitter.
"The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she became a member of the Royal Family. They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son."
Initially their spokesperson announced in November that Meghan and Harry would not be spending Christmas with the royal family this year, and the Queen gave them her blessing to take a break.
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month," their spokesperson said. "Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland. This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen."
