Meghan Markle Was Secretly Baptized into the Church of England

Meghan Markle just earned some major brownie points with Queen Elizabeth II ahead of her May 19 wedding. 

Prince Harry’s fiancée reportedly took the plunge and was baptized and confirmed into the Church of England on Tuesday as a sign of respect toward Queen Eliz’s position as the head of the CoE.

Markle was baptized in a private ceremony at the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace in London with Prince Harry, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, in attendance. The 45-minute service was conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. 

Markle was raised Episcopalian and attended a Catholic high school—Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles—but thanks to her new religious affiliation, she’ll be able to join her husband-to-be at Holy Communion.

Kate Middleton, who was not in attendance, was similarly confirmed in the Church of England prior to her 2011 marriage to Prince William.

The invitations are in the mail, the bachelorette party was a success and the baptism went off without a hitch. All that’s left is for Meghan and Harry to actually tie the knot. Only 72 more days…
