Meghan Markle wears gorgeous black dress for her first solo engagement
The Duchess of Sussex visited the Royal Academy of Arts in London on Tuesday evening for her first solo engagement.
For the event, an opening party for the gallery’s new Oceania exhibition, Meghan wore a long-sleeve black dress with a velvet V-shaped neckline and front split from Givenchy, the brand behind her wedding dress. She paired the velvet and chiffon number with a black and gold clutch and Aquazzura Deneuve bow pumps.
The duchess was taken on a tour of the museum and the new exhibit, which features pieces from New Zealand, Fiji, the kingdom of Tonga, and Australia — all countries she’ll visit along with her husband, the Duke of Sussex, on the newlyweds’ upcoming tour abroad in the beginning of October.
This individual outing comes shortly after Meghan announced her first charity project. The duchess released a cookbook in collaboration with the Hubb Community Kitchen, whose members include those who were affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. She was joined at the launch by Prince Harry and her mother, Doria Ragland.
On Monday, Harry and Meghan attended the Coach Core awards at Loughborough University. The pair competed against each other in netball — Harry won (but Meghan was in heels, so was it even fair?).
