Meghan Markle Wore a Thing: Joseph Sweater and Hugo Boss Skirt Edition
The Duchess of Sussex is an expert at tonal dressing.
Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world's eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We'll be following the Meghan Markle Effect? with our column, "Meghan Markle Wore a Thing."
On Friday, the Duchess of Sussex joined young leaders who are driving meaningful change at a roundtable discussion on gender equality with The Queen's Commonwealth Trust and One Young World at Windsor Castle.
Wearing a burgundy leather Hugo Boss pencil skirt with a crimson-colored deep V-neck pullover by Joseph, the Duchess arrived at the event with Prince Harry, who had not been billed to attend. The Duchess leaned heavily into fall trends with this skirt-and-sweater combo. The mid-length skirt, which is available for $595, encapsulates the richness of the season with its ruby hue and the luxe look of the lambskin leather. The sleek cashmere knit (shop here) boasts a deep V-neck — a popular neckline this autumn and one that is giving its circular counterpart a run for its money.
The Duchess rounded out this cool-weather look with custom Sarah Flint suede pumps (purchase similar ones here) in a cabernet shade, proving she is a master at tonal dressing. The sartorial lesson to be learned here is that mixing different textures and fabrics will add contrast and depth to a monochromatic ensemble.
