Meghan Markle's Father Just Spoke Out About Lilibet’s Arrival
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are settling into life with their new baby daughter Lilibet Diana (Lili for short!), and their respective families couldn't be more thrilled about her arrival. Though naturally Meghan's dad Thomas Markle has found something to complain about, his fave hobby since the Duchess first joined the royal family.
During an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, via Us Weekly, Thomas claimed that he hadn't heard about Lili's arrival from Meghan and Harry, saying he instead found out about the happy news on the radio. "No phone calls, I just heard it on the radio,” he said. “I haven’t spoken to [Meghan] since two days before they got married.”
He added, “If I had done something terribly wrong, that’d be fine. But I haven’t. I just want an answer. … Meghan [ghosted] me and now Harry’s done it to his father. That’s a cold thing to do. … None of this makes sense. ... I don’t think there’s any problems that can’t be worked out. I’ve said I’m sorry about the initial problem … I’ll never give up hope."
Meghan hasn't spoken much about her estranged relationship with Thomas Markle, but during her interview with Oprah, the Duchess explained that she felt betrayed by her dad when he lied about calling the paparazzi ahead of the royal wedding. She also explained that she offered to send a security team if he’d just tell the truth—even though it might mean her future children wouldn’t get security protection one day.
“Me saying, ‘If we use this to protect you, we won’t be able to protect our own children one day’…I’m talking about your grandchildren,” she said, adding, “Everyone has accountability.”
In other words, it's understandable why Meghan might need some space from her dad!
