Meghan Markle's Father Thomas Sends a Message to King Charles Following Cancer Diagnosis

Meghan Markle’s estranged father Thomas Markle sent a message to King Charles III following his cancer diagnosis.

On Monday, Feb. 5, Thomas, 79, wished the British monarch, 75, well via the Daily Mail, following news of his cancer following treatment for an enlarged prostate.

"I want to send my best wishes to King Charles and hope he gets well very soon," Thomas told the publication. "I wish him all the good wishes in the world."

His message came hours after Buckingham Palace released a statement revealing King Charles' cancer diagnosis.

"During The King's recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer," the update read.

"The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure," the statement added. "He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible."

It concluded: "His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."

Thomas has coped with health issues himself in recent years. He suffered a heart attack right before Meghan and Prince Harry's 2018 wedding, prompting King Charles to walk Meghan down the aisle. In 2022, Thomas was hospitalized after a suspected stroke; he reportedly suffered a stroke in 2002, as well.

So far, Prince Harry and Meghan have not released a statement about King Charles' cancer diagnosis—although multiple outlets report the prince will travel to London in the coming days.
