Duchess Meghan's lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday, and the publication's parent company, Associated Newspapers, is moving forward.

As reported by Press Gazette, "The first hearing in Meghan Markle's legal action against a British newspaper over its publication of a 'private and confidential' letter to her estranged father will go ahead," and is set to be "held remotely" starting next week. Because of the current coronavirus pandemic, the case won't be held in person.

Meghan and Harry brought legal action against Associated Newspapers for publishing a letter sent from the duchess to her estranged father, Thomas Markle. Per Press Gazette, official court documents call the letter "obviously private correspondence," in which the duchess shared "her intimate thoughts and feelings about her father’s health and her relationship with him at that time."

The Duchess of Sussex's lawyers also suggest that the tabloid "chose to deliberately omit or suppress" some of Meghan's correspondence to her father, and "intentionally distorted or manipulated" the meaning of the letter, per Press Gazette. The publication also reported, "The duchess is seeking damages for alleged misuse of private information, copyright infringement and breach of the Data Protection Act."
