Meghan McCain is 'praying for all women' struggling with motherhood
Meghan McCain is doing some reflecting before heading into 2020, and addressing the many “curveballs” she’s faced within the last few years — namely, the difficult loss that she dealt with when she miscarried.
The View co-host took to Twitter to open up about the struggles that she’s been through when it comes to motherhood, and to acknowledge the millions of others who have been through the same thing. She also shared her wish that the new year brings better fortune to these hopeful moms.
Life has thrown me a lot of curveballs in the last few years. I, like so many other millions of women have had my struggles with motherhood. Given the nature of my life and job this is something that I have been open with...

.... This holiday season I'm praying for all women like me who have had to face these challenges - and that their hopes will be answered in the new year.

“I, like so many other millions of women have had my struggles with motherhood,” she tweeted. “Given the nature of my life and job this is something that I have been open with.”
McCain first came forward about the miscarriage that she suffered in a July op-ed for the New York Times, calling it a “horrendous experience.” “I look back at those pictures now, and I see a woman hiding her shock and sorrow. I am posed for the camera, looking stern and strong, representing my fellow conservative women across the country,” the then-34-year-old wrote. “But inside, I am dying. Inside, my baby is dying.”
She ended the powerful piece by noting how “distressingly common” miscarriage is, and extending support to others experiencing the same thing. “I have love for all the women who, like me, were briefly in the sisterhood of motherhood, hoping, praying and nursing joy within us, until the day the joy was over.”
In the wake of Thursday’s tweet, many women came forward on Twitter to share their own experiences.
You are not alone. I too struggle with fertility.

It’s a very personal journey. I have a beautiful rainbow baby but the path was difficult. Thank you for speaking on the grief associated it. I pray for you and your family and when the time is right and if it’s your desire.

Your in my thoughts and prayers that the new year brings with it some of your hopes and dreams, and leaves sorrow behind!

Miscarriages suck. Anyone who has ever lived through one (I've gone through 2) knows that. And the more women who speak openly about it the less of a stigma it will carry. It's so common, but it's just not something people feel comfortable talking about.

In addition to speaking out, McCain called for more kindness when it comes to discussing “these issues.”
I wish for more compassion and responsibility when discussing these issues - not everyone’s story is a perfect and beautiful straight line to motherhood. ??
