Mel B Speaks Out After Being Replaced on 'AGT Champions' With Alesha Dixon

From Prevention

  • America's Got Talent: The Champions is coming back to NBC for season 2.

  • AGT season 14 judges Julianne Hough and Gabrielle Union will not be judges on Champions for season 2.

  • The AGT: The Champions judges will include Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, and newcomer Alesha Dixon.

Last winter, Simon Cowell spearheaded the first-ever America's Got Talent: The Champions, a spinoff of AGT where the very best Got Talent stars from around the globe competed on one stage. Today, it was just announced that AGT: The Champions will be coming back for season 2 — but this time around, the judges will be different.

While Simon and Howie Mandel will stay put, Mel B won't be on season 2 of AGT: The Champions, even though she was a judge in season 1. Instead, the NBC talent show has tapped Heidi to return and newcomer Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon to replace the former Spice Girl.

So, why did AGT not have Mel B come back? According to a pre-recorded interview that The Daily Mail obtained, Mel B has recently decided to "swap the Hollywood lifestyle" and move back to her hometown of Leeds in Northern England to spend time with her family. This news comes right as Mel B finished up her summer Spice Girls tour with bandmates Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Melanie C.

While we can't confirm that's the entire reason Mel B isn't coming back to AGT: The Champions, she seems nothing but happy for her replacement.

"Congrats my lovley [sic] you will have an amazing time,it’s a great show to work on with great people, look after my girl @heidiklum," she tweeted at Alesha.

Even though we're definitely sad that Mel B isn't returning for season 2, we're excited to see what Alesha brings to the table after being on Britain's Got Talent since 2012. Before that, she judged on the British show Strictly Coming From Dancing. Based on Alesha's impressive résumé alone, we're willing to bet she'll make an amazing addition to the AGT family.
