Melania Trump's $2,950 hot pink dress distracts from her anti-bullying speech
Melania Trump delivered an antibullying speech to world leaders, but her neon-pink attire may have overshadowed her message.
Taking the podium Wednesday at a luncheon held at the United Nations in New York City, Melania wore a $2,950 Delpozo fuchsia, knee-length coat with billowing sleeves and matching heels. “The most important and joyous role I ever had was to be a mother to my young son,” Melania told the crowd. “And what could possibly be a more essential focus in everyone’s life than that of loving, educating, and bringing up our next generation to be happy, productive, and morally responsible adults?”
Speaking for seven-and-a-half minutes, the first lady described the importance of teaching children empathy and communication, the basis for “kindness, mindfulness, integrity, and leadership, which can only be taught be example.” She also spoke about her hopes of teaching children to treat others as they would want to be treated, despite the prevalence of bullying on social media.
But while Melania spoke, Twitter was buzzing with commentary about her bold coat. While plenty complimented the first lady on her style choice, many cracked jokes about the item’s size and color.
I actually need shades to watch Melania's speech at the UN. Don't know if it's a dress or a neon bulb she's in. pic.twitter.com/OjTr7H6J6A

According to Politico, Melania was the only speaker at the luncheon, where she was seated with other first ladies such as Brigitte Macron of France, Sophie Trudeau of Canada, and Emine Erdogan of Turkey.
The first lady’s speech came one day after President Trump delivered remarks at the U.N. referring to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as “Rocket Man” who is “on a suicide mission for himself,” while describing the nation as a “depraved regime.”
The president experienced his own viral moment Tuesday after the White House chief of staff John Kelly was photographed looking exasperated during the speech, covering his eyes with his hand and looking downward, prompting White House press secretary Sarah Sanders to address the moment on Fox & Friends Wednesday. “I would certainly not read anything into that picture anymore than probably, just like the rest of us, we’re tired trying to keep up with this president who’s working hard every day trying to help America,” she said.
