Melania Trump gave us 5 reasons to love her as FLOTUS this week
Melania Trump celebrated her 48th birthday on Thursday. And although all her husband, President Trump, got her was a card and some flowers, it seems that her birthday week might still have been one of her best, allowing people to express their most favorable opinions of the first lady thus far.
Starting with her solo appearance at former first lady Barbara Bush’s memorial service, the current first lady began to loosen up among her presidential peers. Photographed alongside the Obamas, Clintons, and Bushes, Melania had quite the smile on her face, and even chuckled through an encounter with former President Barack Obama.
Reactions from onlookers were mostly ones of pleasant surprise, mentioning that the former model looked the happiest she has since Trump’s presidency began. And there was no shortage of memes that came as a result.

Her trip to Texas was followed by a quick return to Washington, D.C., where preparations were taking place for the pair to host the administration’s first state dinner, in honor of the official visit of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte. Melania took to Twitter to let people in on the planning process, which she had taken under her wing, and ended up receiving much praise for her stylistic choices — both for the dinner and for her outfits at each event with the Macrons.
The first lady’s eye for beautiful fashion is hard to deny, and her days with the Macrons saw some of her most fabulous looks. From the $2,790 Givenchy black cape that she rocked when the couple arrived and the giant white hat that started a fast trend to the custom Chanel gown that she wore for the dinner itself, each outfit was carefully selected with French designers in mind.
The whirlwind week continued in Melania’s favor, as she received an early birthday present of a wax figure in Madame Tussauds. On Wednesday, her figure joined President Trump’s in a replica of the Oval Office, featuring Melania’s perfectly curled hair and a cobalt-blue dress. People had mixed reactions, though, including those who said that her wax figure looked more like Sarah Jessica Parker or Ivanka Trump than it did Melania. However, most agreed that the first lady deserved to be immortalized in the New York City museum.
Once it came time for Melania’s birthday on Thursday, the president seemed unfazed while doing a phone interview on Fox & Friends. Saying that he hadn’t had time to get his wife anything other than “a beautiful card … and some beautiful flowers,” Trump also managed to make a small admission about Micheal Cohen representing him during the matter with Stormy Daniels.
Through it all, people all over the world feel like they might have gotten a better look at who Melania Trump really is. And on her 48th birthday, many are wishing her nothing but the best.
