Melanie Lynksey Thrills in Lace Corset With Teal Blazer Dress for 'Yellowjackets' Premiere
The Emmy-nominated actress is pulling out all the stops for 'Yellowjackets' Season 2.
Melanie Lynskey was back on the red carpet this week for the Yellowjackets Season 2 screening—and she didn't come to play.
The Emmy-nominated actress meant business with her ensemble for the world premiere of the Showtime original's second season, which took place at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, Calif. on Wednesday, March 22.
Lynskey, 45, made heads turn in a sultry lace corset top underneath a bright turquoise blazer dress, which was fastened with one simple gold button at the waist.
The Coyote Ugly star accessorized the look with a metallic gold purse and a matching pair of heels, while her hair was pulled up in a spunky half-up, half-down pony tail.
Lynskey—who stars as Shauna in the mystery-horror series—attended Wednesday's screening along with her co-stars, who notably include Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Tawny Cypress, Samantha Hanratty, Jasmin Savoy Brown and more.
Following the buzz from an epic first season, which garnered seven Emmy nominations, the cast is coming back for more this month, with Season 2 set to premiere this weekend.
While Lynskey clearly nails the portrayal of Shauna, an emotionally complex mother with a complicated past, the actress recently admitted she has little in common with her character when it comes to her parenting style in real life.
For Lynskey, who shares a daughter with husband Jason Ritter, she feels "so fortunate" to be a mom. "It's like the joy of my life. Every day, I'm like, 'Thank you, thank you, thank you for this child.' I want to spend every minute with her," she told PEOPLE on the red carpet on Wednesday.
However, "It's different for Shauna," Lynskey admitted of her on-screen persona. "She didn't want to have a kid. She's kind of doing her best. But I don't know, I think there's not a lot [of overlap]. There's not a Venn diagram where the things kind of connect."
Season 2 of the part-survival narrative series is expected to take off right where the action left off in Season 1, as the characters look back at their haunting experiences of being involved in a tragic plane crash during high school.
Showtime streaming and on-demand subscribers will be able to watch the Season 2 premiere on Friday, March 24, 2023, while everyone else can tune in at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 26, 2023.
