'Melrose Place' Cast Then and Now: Catch Up With the Stars of the Hit '90s Drama

When Wednesday nights rolled around, we couldn't wait to tune into the the drama and intrigue of Melrose Place, anxious to see what the residents of the small fictional apartment complex in West Hollywood, California were doing. Created by Sex and the City genius Darren Star, the Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off aired for seven season in the '90s and the antics of the Melrose Place cast will forever be our guilty pleasure.

The revolving door of original and added cast members mimicked the dramatic comings and goings at 4616 Melrose Place, and while the cast went through many changes, Thomas Calabro and Heather Locklear stayed the longest. In fact, Calabro was the only cast member to remain from the pilot through the finale.

Heather Locklear as Amanda Woodward

Heather Locklear joined the Melrose Place cast in its second season, playing advertising executive Amanda Woodward. Her sharp business suits matched her sharp, villainous tongue. Originally added to the cast to boost the show’s ratings, Locklear’s presence did just that, and she took the reins as the face of the show, garnering four consecutive Golden Globe nominations for her performance.

With the end of the series, Locklear joined Spin City, Too Close To Home and Hot in Cleveland, to name a few projects. Lately, Locklear’s personal life has made headlines. Previously married to musicians Tommy Lee and Richie Sambora, Locklear became engaged to her high school sweetheart in 2020.

Her recent erratic behavior has fueled rumors of a backwards slip on her sobriety. She was arrested in 2018 on suspicion of felony domestic violence and battery of a police officer. Her recovery efforts have been supported by family and friends, and now, at 61, she's on the road to recovery.

Thomas Calabro wore his white doctor’s coat very well as Dr. Michael Mancini. In an interview, Calabro admitted, “With the notoriety of being so identified with Michael Mancini, it’s a blessing and a curse." Starting out as a devoted husband to Jane Mancini (Josie Bissett), the physician became a devilish womanizer by the end of the series.

While no role can compare to the popularity of Dr. Mancini, Calabro has appeared in many television series such as Castle and NCIS, while big screen ventures include Locker 13 and The Man in 3B.

Josie Bissett as Jane Mancini

The actress met her first husband, actor Rob Estes, on the set of Melrose Place, but the alumni divorced after 13 years of marriage. Bissett then moved back to her native Washington state, only to have her home burn to the ground, losing all of her possessions. Yet, she found a silver lining in the sadness — she soon met her future husband Tom. “It was a really traumatic experience for me and my kids," she told FIRST for Women. “I would never, ever want to go through something like that again.”

Andrew Shue as Bill Campbell

Always an avid soccer player, Melrose Place cast member Andrew Shue wasn’t too disappointed when his character, Bill Campbell, left the series. He immediately put his energy into playing professional soccer and became a co-founder of the website CafeMom and the nonprofit Do Something.

Shue’s personal life took center stage recently when his wife of 12 years, Amy Robach, made headlines when she was spotted holding hands with her Good Morning America co-host, T.J. Holmes, in 2022. After the divorce, Shue bought an estate in New Jersey that he now calls home.

Troublemaker Taylor McBride joined the series in season five. Taylor’s misdeeds were rampant as she broke up marriages, faked a pregnancy and always came up with elaborate schemes to get her way. After leaving the show, Lisa Rinna was once again a soap star when she returned to her role on Days of Our Lives. More recently, she wreaked havoc on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for eight seasons. Throughout it all, Rinna has been happily married to L.A. Law actor Harry Hamlin since 1997 and has two daughters.

To bring a smile to her face, all Rinna has to do is "think of Harry or my kids, my dogs and how good my life is," she told FIRST. "Just think of something positive or fill yourself with love and it’ll change any negativity."

Doug Savant's character, who he played for six seasons, died in a car crash, but he hasn’t wallowed in his on-screen demise. He stayed busy with roles on Desperate Housewives and 24. “The best thing that happened to me as a result of Melrose was meeting my wife,” he told People.  Savant met fellow Melrose Place co-star Laura Leighton on set and the two married in 1998. "We were friends on the set but then it became, 'Oh my God, this person is so perfect,'" he said.

Marcia Cross is instantly recognizable thanks to her role on Desperate Housewives, but it was Melrose Place that put her on the map. Who can forget when her character, the unstable Dr. Kimberly Shaw, dramatically pulled off her wig, revealing her scar?

Cross has been married to stockbroker Tom Mahoney since 2006 and they share twin daughters. Over the years, Cross has faced her share of personal drama due to a diagnosis of anal cancer. She is now in remission and has advocated for putting an end to the stigma around the disease.

As the effervescent girl-next-door, Alison Parker evolved into a more complex woman with alcohol issues and trouble with men and her job. Parker eventually left the apartment complex to go to a rehab facility in Atlanta, but soon after leaving Melrose Place, Courtney Thorne-Smith became a staple in the Ally McBeal world as Georgia Thomas, the long-suffering wife of Gil Bellows' Billy. After being written off the show, Courtney continued to be a successful TV star, with roles on on According to Jim and Two And A Half Men. She married in 2007 and has a teenage son.
