Menasha’s You Belong Block Party brings together community members in celebration of diversity
MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – Volunteer Fox Cities and Celebrate Diversity Fox Cities teamed up to gather the community as one in a celebration of diversity and generosity through volunteer work.
The You Belong Block Party at Smith Park in Menasha on Saturday brought together people from all over the community, with families participating in numerous activities.

The buffet featured global food to reflect the community’s diverse culture, and the live entertainment varied as local artists and cultural groups performed. The event also included dragon dancers from the Northeast Wisconsin Chinese Association.
Melissa Jagodinsky is the event manager for Volunteer Fox Cities, and she emphasized how the block party is more than just fun, but about teaching an important message.

“Everybody belongs here in the Fox Cities, no matter where you’re from or what you do, you belong in the Fox Cities,” Jadodinsky said. “We’re here to connect as a community and celebrate each other.”
The event attracts many nonprofits who have an opportunity to recruit volunteers. One of the nonprofits that showed up on Saturday was B.A.B.E.S., Inc which is committed to help end child abuse and neglect.
Ashley Chick is the volunteer recruitment coordinator for the organization and brought her daughter along with her to the block party on Saturday.
“It’s important to show her how important it is to be involved in the community and it’s cool because she was able to help a bunch of kids today showing them the games,” she said.
