My order: I had the Smoked Turkey Caprese sandwich ($13), slices of smoked turkey breast and fresh mozzarella with grilled tomato, balsamic glaze and pesto mayonnaise on pressed focaccia. It came with a small salad on the side, which was a nice surprise because that wasn’t indicated on the menu. My friend had the Ham & Pimento ($8), a pressed sandwich with smoked ham, pimento spread, pickles and green onions on sourdough. It came with a side salad, too. Both meals were satisfying and, like the rest of the menu, displayed an interesting mix of ingredients. The cup of Chicken & Dumpling soup ($5.50) lacked flavor and was so thick I could have eaten it with a fork.
Likes: It’s nice to see the long-vacant Vinegar Hill Mall once again come to life. This version of Wm. Van’s, formerly a coffee shop at a different location, offers breakfast and lunch in addition to a full array of coffees, teas and other drinks. There’s a parking lot on the west side of the building.

What would I order next time? I’d like to go for breakfast and get an omelet or brioche French toast with strawberries and cream cheese.
