This Mexican restaurant is expanding in metro Phoenix. Everything fans should know
The Sonoran flavors from Someburros, which have captivated Valley residents for nearly 40 years are reaching new foodies as it opens its 16th location to date.
Someburros opened its first San Tan Valley on May 9, but will host its grand opening in June, according to Bella Larini, manager at the new location.
The grand opening of the new establishment, located at the corner of Gantzel and Combs Roads, is set for Saturday, June 15. The inauguration of the place will have live mariachi, raffles and the presence of its mascot, the donkey “Nacho”.
Starting with its first Tempe location that opened in 1986, Someburros captivated its customers' palates with Nana Isabel's authentic Sonoran recipes. She along with her husband Eusevio Vasquez, her husband's son George and his wife Mary started the business on the corner of Mill Avenue and Baseline Road.
The legacy of the Vasquez family has remained strong and its success has been such that now the restaurant has 16 branches throughout the Valley, including the San Tan Valley location.
“Someburros is more than just a restaurant; it’s a home away from home, where people come together to share family meals, celebrate milestones, and create lasting memories. San Tan Valley’s commitment to its residents is exceptional and we can’t wait to share my family’s well-loved recipes with the community," said Tim Vasquez, president and owner of Someburros, in a news release.
What to expect at the San Tan Valley location
Someburros' menu offers a variety of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Among its classics are quesadillas, enchiladas, tostadas, soft and hard-shell tacos and, of course, the traditional burritos, which can be ordered with Sonoran-style fillings, including red and green chili, roast chicken, machaca, roast beef and vegan protein.
And how can we forget the customer favorite: the Pollo Fundido — marinated chicken breast wrapped in a flour tortilla, then fried and topped with jalape?o cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, green onions and served with rice. This dish, accompanied by one of their infamous frozen margaritas, promises to be the perfect combination.
The new branch will offer drive-thru service from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday to Sunday, and from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The dining area will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
