New Mexico State Fair announces Green Chile Cheeseburger Challenge contestants
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico State Fair announced competitors in the Green Chile Cheeseburger Challenge.
What are the unique foods at the NM State Fair in 2024?
Ten restaurants from across New Mexico will participate in the challenge to serve up the best green chile cheeseburger. “This is the Super Bowl of Green Chile Cheeseburger contests in this State,” said State Fair General Manager Dan Mourning. “It continues to get bigger and bigger each year so we decided to move it out to Main Street to accommodate the huge crowds that flock to this event. People’s Choice ballots are extremely limited so make sure you’re here early!”
The restaurants will compete for two awards; the blind judging and people’s choice awards.

Del’s Family Restaurant – Quay County
Effingbar & Grill – Bernalillo County
Savoy Bar and Grill – Bernalillo County
Craft Republic – Bernalillo County
Big Mike’s Burgers and More – Valencia County
Sparky’s Burgers, BBQ & Espresso – Dona Ana County
Isleta Grill – Isleta Pueblo
Grill at the Monte Carlo – Taos County
Slate Street Billiards – Sandoval County
The New Mexico State Fair is from September 5 to September 15. Last year’s winner was Oso Grill from Capitan. They also won the People’s Choice Award.
