After a multi-year, $90 million renovation, the new Ritz-Carlton, South Beach reopened its doors last month. The landmark hotel in Miami's Art Deco district was revamped from ceilings to floors, providing a modern take on timeless design.

“Today, The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach—a treasure in the brand’s portfolio and in Miami—returns better than ever with a distinctive design transformation that melds modern touches with the building’s beloved Art Deco design,” said Sase Gjorsovski, General Manager of the resort. “Given the tremendous thought that has gone into this $90 million renaissance, I’m confident that leisure travelers, business travelers, and groups alike will find our ‘big reveal’ well worth the wait.”

The historic building was originally designed by architect Morris Lapidus, but the new renovations were crafted by designers Meg Sharpe and Cristian Rubio. Sharpe oversaw the lobby, the Lapidus Bar, the restaurant, pool, club, and spa, and says that she found inspiration in the surroundings of Miami, while also preserving the hotel’s own rich history.

“By upholding the integrity of the storied past of the property, we have revealed the architectural base created by the giants of the Art Deco and Mimo styles renowned in Miami. The gentle nod to the past is imbued with modern purpose,” Sharpe said.

Food and drinks are available in abundance at the remodeled hotel. The selection includes the Lapidus Bar, a cocktail lounge with live music and an Art Deco ambiance, Fuego y Mar, a new Latin-inspired restaurant from Executive Chef Anthony LePape, and the DiLido Beach Club, an oceanfront restaurant perfect for lunch with a view.

The renovation also included a complete revamping of the Ritz-Carlton Spa. The new wellness center offers a smorgasbord of treatments, allowing you to relax and recharge on your much needed vacation. Try out the only Timeless Capsule in the U.S., an elliptical space designed to provide the same treatment quality in a shortened timeframe, so you can be back on the beach in no time.
