Future And Metro Boomin Shine Together At ‘We Trust You Tour’ Inglewood

The Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif., still had the smell and shine of a brand-new event venue when Metro Boomin and Future arrived to slime it.

Closing out August, with an energetic night, the duo brought their collective bangers and individual-credited standouts to the stage for a night of Hip-Hop fanfare for the We Trust You Tour. While ticketholders may have expected the show to mirror the “Not Like Us” energy exuded at Kendrick Lamar’s Juneteenth pop-out concert (as the Drake beef was ignited by Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That”) the concert took another route.

The aforementioned chart-topper was projected to an adoring crowd at the concert’s end, but without performing any songs that featured The Six God, the event focused on music for longtime fans of the headlining acts.

A late start added extra energy to a restless crowd, whose anxiety erupted into standing ovations as the St. Louis-bred producer appeared in the arena. Kicking off the show with a DJ set of deep cuts and hit records, the setlist included “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1,” “Knife Talk,” and “Codeine Crazy.”

TJ Banks swapped in to prep the crowd for Future’s arrival, spinning “Same Damn Time,” “Real Sisters,” and more as the Atlanta native entered the venue in front of a sold-out crowd. The 40-year-old ran through songs including “Stick Talk,” “Turn On The Lights,” and “Wait For You,” before Banks got back to business.

The show ended with the duo together, proving as one another’s muse. Metro reappeared wearing Andre 3000’s original “Which type of stereo are you” jumpsuit, paying homage to the OutKast rhymer as he stood in front of a sold-out Los Angeles crowd with Pluto by his side.

Together, they mostly performed tracks from their collaborative We Don’t Trust You album, including “Like That” (sans Kendrick’s verse), “Slimed In,” and “Type Sh*t” as well as an encore of “Mask Off” which Future performed during his slot.

Additionally, during the show, Metro Boomin extended his philanthropic efforts, with his ‘Leslie Joanne Single Moms Are Superheroes’ national tour grant program, dedicating a $20,000 grant to Shields for Families, serving high-risk families in Los Angeles.

So far, the program has traveled to Detroit, Atlanta, Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Washington D.C., Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, and Denver, supporting organizations including Essential Families, Jeremiah Foundation, Alternatives for Girls, Atlanta Mission, Solomon’s Temple, YWCA Toronto, EMpath, Women Against Abuse, Grace Institute, Calvary Women’s Services, and more.

“The energy in L.A. is always impeccable. I feel like we made history in L.A. performing at the new arena. We created memories that will last forever,” reflected Future in a statement to VIBE following the concert.
