Michael Strahan's Daughter Isabella Gives Update After Unexpected Craniotomy
Michael Strahan and Isabella Strahan
Isabella Strahan is letting fans know how she's doing after having to get another emergency surgical procedure in the midst of her brain cancer battle.
The 19-year-old daughter of retired NFL pro and Good Morning America host Michael Strahan was diagnosed with brain tumor in October 2023, prompting her to undergo an emergency craniotomy at the time.
Since then, Isabella has been receiving chemotherapy as the next step in her treatment process, but all of that was derailed when she ended up back in the hospital this week, where she needed another craniotomy.
Despite concerns from her followers, Isabella—who has been documenting her cancer journey in a series of YouTube videos—shared the latest installment on Wednesday, March 6, letting her fans know that she is "in a lot of pain" but still making her way toward recovery.
"I’m in so much pain," Isabella said in a post-op clip, where she could be seen with her head completely wrapped in bandages. "This sucks."
"I was in so much pain earlier, I was like screaming. This is not fun," she said, while explaining that the surgeons cleaned out her scar from the first procedure and replaced the bone with a titanium plate. "So now I'm part titanium."
"Hopefully this is what was causing all my fevers and why I’ve been in the hospital for a week. So hopefully I will get to go home soon after I heal from this."
"But I don't feel my best," she candidly added, noting that she pushed back her next chemo appointment to give herself a little more time to heal.
Later in the video, Isabella showed her followers how the recovery process was going, as she was eventually able to remove the head wrap bandage and even went for a walk around the hospital with some of her friends and family.
"I'm feeling like I just lost every progress of me walking since October," she admitted, before reminding herself, "This isn't the worst it's been!"
The teenager has been keeping up quite a positive attitude despite the scary situation, and is even giving some of the funds made from her blog to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University.
