Miley Cyrus Wears a Boxy Black Mugler Tux at the 2019 Grammys
Miley Cyrus has arrived on the Grammys red carpet, wearing a tux by Mugler. Her husband Liam Hemsworth wasn't with her tonight, but her parents Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus were by her side.
Cyrus is performing at tonight's ceremony with Shawn Mendes, but it's not their first time singing this weekend. Cyrus performed a cover of her godmother Dolly Parton's song "Islands in the Stream" with him for the MusiCares tribute in honor of Dolly Parton.
When asked how their duet came about, Cyrus explained that she slipped into Mendes' Insta DMs to start the conversation.
“I actually sent him a DM and said, I don’t know what you’re trying to do next because I’ve actually been in his position in his career too before, where you’re someone who I think is trying to fit into pop music and you want to be played on pop music, but you don’t want to be conformist and you want to do your own thing,” Cyrus told Variety. “I love the way that he always kind of plays alternative pop, because it’s something that I love to do.”
Cyrus wore a black sequined mini dress to MusiCares gala, and she worked the look so well on the carpet that both Tyra Banks and Hemsworth were compelled to comment about it on Instagram. "Good god," Hemsworth wrote under her photo.
Banks, meanwhile, posted her own Instagram of Cyrus' look.
