Mindy Kaling being mom-shamed is not what you think
Mindy Kaling gave birth to daughter Katherine in December, and just over two months later the new mother is on a press tour for her upcoming film A Wrinkle in Time. Along with co-stars Reese Witherspoon, Storm Reid, and Oprah, Kaling has been out and about making her first public appearances since welcoming her baby girl. From the pictures she’s posted, she looks happier than ever — despite a comment that some users mistook for mom-shaming.

“Gettin the damn thing done,” Kaling tweeted on Wednesday, alongside a photo of herself getting her hair done while being styled in a black and red flower dress for an appearance. The first person to respond made a comment about her being without the baby.
But, like, what happened to the baby? He should be in school right now and no one seems to care.

“But, like, what happened to the baby?” Twitter user Eric Laidlaw wrote. “He should be in school right now and no one seems to care.” And without a second thought, others began to respond.
That's what I was thinking! I scrolled through the comments and nothing about a baby

If a man posted this, would you be wondering where his baby was while he worked?
— Aurora De Lucia (@AurorasBlog) February 27, 2018
Aurora De Lucia finally stepped in to defend Kaling against the seemingly mom-shaming comments that Laidlaw was leaving, before he got to explain where his remark came from in the first place.
Guy here – it’s a reference to “The Office” finale. Ryan passes a random baby off to Kelly and her new boyfriend, before leaving the baby with him and running off with Kelly. Really funny part of a great show

“It’s a reference to ‘The Office’ finale,” Laidlaw explained of the initial comment he left as an ode to Kaling’s first big break on television. Turns out, De Lucia was just as much a fan of the show and immediately understood the reference and apologized for the misunderstanding.
In the meantime, however, other fans took part in fawning over the gorgeous new mom and wishing her the best with her daughter.
