Mindy Kaling Swears by an $17 Cleanser for Radiant and Breakout-Free Skin at 41
  • Mindy Kaling, 41, uses a few go-to products to keep her complexion radiant at 41.

  • The actress loves Bolden’s Clarifying Cleanser and Clear Skin Clay Mask, which both cost less than $20 on Amazon.

  • All of her favorite products are made by women-owned brands.

One thing we know about Mindy Kaling (other than her iconic role as Kelly Kapoor in The Office) is that she always keeps it real. In the past, the actress has been honest about her struggles with acne and oily skin, and now at 41, she’s discovered a few key products that keep her radiant and breakout-free.

“One of my favorite [brands] is Bolden,” she said during a 2021 International Women’s Day event with Amazon, per People. Kaling particularly loves the women-owned line’s Clear Skin Clay Mask and Clarifying Cleanser because they’re formulated to control oil and eliminate pesky congestion.

“Besides just being a great product, I love this because it’s great for women who have darker complexions and some of the things that go along with that,” Kaling said.

The mask contains sulfur, a proven acne-fighting ingredient, and the cleanser is a gel-to-foam formula that uses echinacea and lentil seed extract to target hyper-pigmentation. The best part? Both cost less than $20.

When it comes to keeping her skin moisturized, the Mindy Project star turns to another women-run brand, Bluelene for its Anti-Aging Daily Moisturizer and Anti-Aging Night Cream. Both products contain shea butter and grapefruit peel oil to hydrate as well as a less-irritating retinol alternative to boost elasticity—and reviewers confirm that it does just that.

“Makes my skin feel plump,” one reviewer wrote. Others said it “improved texture” and left their complexion feeling “firm and supple.”

Although Kaling likely appreciates those promises, for her, skincare is about more than maintaining a certain look. As a busy mom of two, it’s about carving out time for self-care.

“I’ve been very fastidious about my beauty routine. It’s something that I take a lot of pleasure in,” she told The Fashion Spot in August 2019. “I don’t have a ton of time in my schedule and this is that uninterrupted 5 to 10 minutes at night and in the mornings where I can do all the different steps of my routine. It’s a really good winding down ritual for me at the end of the night.”
