Minecraft Movie: First Shots Leak From Film Set
The live-action Minecraft movie will be faithful to the source material if the first leaked shots are anything to go by.
In the unofficial pictures, which were taken by Twitter user @joshspace2, we see some of the props that are going to be used in the film, including a life-sized tree and a giant rock wall.
Like the best-selling video game on which the film is based, the props are characteristically blocky, with every edge a right angle.
@joshspace2 even managed to capture a shot of the tree prop under construction, and sure enough, under its green leaves we see it really is made from giant blocks.
Inspired by the 2011 video game of the same name by Mojang Studios, which according to IGN is the second-highest selling game of all time (behind Tetris) with 300 million copies sold, the Minecraft movie doesn’t have a title or release date yet.
However, Jack Black will star in the new Minecraft movie as protagonist Steve, with Jason Momoa and Kate McKinnon also featuring. According to one synopsis found on IMDB, in the film “the malevolent Ender Dragon sets out on a path of destruction, prompting a young girl and her group of unlikely adventurers to set out to save the Overworld.”
Minecraft is rumored to release some time in 2025.
