Minecraft Movie Locks in Cast
Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre director Jared Hess is bringing the popular video game Minecraft to the big screen in April 2025.
Minecraft follows the malevolent Ender Dragon, who sets out on a path of destruction, prompting a young girl and her group of unlikely adventurers to set out to save the Overworld.
So far, we've got news that Jason Momoa will star as Steve, Sebastian Eugene Hansen will be Henry with Danielle Brooks as Dawn.
The film is a collaboration between Warner Bros and Legendary, with executive producers Jon Berg, Cale Boyter, Vu Bui, Todd Hallowell, Brian Mendoza, Jon Spaiht, Kayleen Walters and Lydia Winters on board. Roy Lee, Jason Momoa, Mary Parent, Jill Messick, and Torfi Frans ólafsson serve as producers, with Nick Satriano as co-producer.
Production is set to start at the end of the month in New Zealand, as per Deadline, who broke the news of Brooks and Hansen's casting.
Minecraft comes from Mojang studios and has sold over 300 million copies, with nearly 140 million monthly active players as of 2023. It is one of the highest-selling games of all time.
