Miranda Lambert is welcoming a “cool” new addition to her family that she describes as a “match made in cowgirl heaven.”
The country singer introduced the new family member on March 12 by sharing a photo and video montage on social media.
The name of her new addition is Cool, a chestnut horse that has a wide white blaze on his face. Cool “is one of the sweetest horses I’ve ever met,” Lambert gushed in a caption accompanying the montage on Instagram. “He does it all with grace and patience and has already taught me so much.”
Lambert, 40, shared that she has recently begun practicing mounted shooting, a hobby she demonstrated in one video clip included in her post. In the clip, Lambert is seen riding Cool around a dirt arena as she takes aim at several balloons tied to posts around the open space. The “Mama’s Broken Heart” singer said the hobby introduced her to some new friends—including Cool.
“He came at the perfect time in my life when I needed a challenge and to try something new,” Lambert said. The “House That Built Me” songstress reflected on turning 40 in November 2023 and said she feels “ready for a decade of pushing myself to be better and bolder both personally and professionally.”
“This feels like the perfect beginning to that journey,” Lambert added.
Several of Lambert’s fans were thrilled to see Lambert bringing a new horse into her life, with some suggesting that she could be Cool’s “horse whisperer.”
“Right on yes, get out of comfort zones and keep practicing and building confidence to do new things,” one fan commented, adding that the premise “sounds like a country song to me.”
One Instagram user similarly praised Lambert for “taking on new challenges and starting new hobbies.”
“You make a gorgeous team and I can’t wait to see your adventures together,” another fan wrote.
Lambert has a long history with horses, which has influenced her songwriting and even her apparel and boot brand, Idyllwind. During a 2009 interview with Horse Illustrated, Lambert said that horseback riding helps “clear my head” and allows her to “write better music.”
“It’s always good to get away from the computer and cell phone and just enjoy being with my horses,” she told the magazine at the time.
