Mission of Mercy to offer free medical, dental care April 26-27 in Santa Fe
Apr. 16—The New Mexico Dental Association and its charitable foundation, United Concordia Dental, and the city of Santa Fe are teaming up this month to offer New Mexico Mission of Mercy, a two-day medical and dental clinic for adults and children.
Volunteer dentists and medical professionals will offer dental cleanings, extractions, fillings and some root canals, as well as medical exams, treatment and consultations at no cost to patients.
Services will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. No appointments or identification cards are required.
The clinic will be held April 26 and 27 at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, 201 W. Marcy St. The doors open at 5:15 a.m.
Trish Rule, a spokeswoman for the New Mexico Dental Association Foundation, wrote in an email, "We do provide dentistry for 12 hours, but we only keep the clinic open until capacity is reached."
A similar Mission of Mercy event was held in Santa Fe in 2016, when 1,200 volunteers served over 1,200 patients, providing an estimated $1.6 million in donated treatment, according to organizers. Clinics also have been held in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Farmington and Rio Rancho.
