A Mister Rogers Documentary Is Coming in 2018 and We're Not Crying, You Are
From the late ’60s to the early 2000s, Fred Rogers was something of a god (or at least a way-cool grandpa) to the millions of kids who tuned into his PBS show, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. We were among those kids, which is why we’re so over the moon to hear that there’s a forthcoming documentary about our beloved be-cardigan-ed buddy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Focus Features acquired the rights to Won’t You Be My Neighbor?—a doc about Rogers’s life and work.
Set to be released on June 8, 2018, Won’t You Be My Neighbor? promises to be “an intimate portrait of Rogers, a creative genius who inspired generations of children with compassion and limitless imagination.” His show, for the uninitiated, was one of the longest-running series on PBS, wrapping production in 2000 after 31 seasons (Rogers died in 2003 at age 74).
