This Model’s Instagram Post Makes a Perfect Point About Thigh Gaps
We’re constantly inspired by Iskra Lawrence, the gorgeous, curvy model who is the face of Aerie’s The Real You is Sexy campaign. Lawrence is super active on social media, where she’s unapologetically vocal about her opinions on body positivity, and, TBH, we love her for it. Whether she’s completely shutting down fat shaming haters or dropping wisdom about healthy body image, we think she’s amaze. Which is why we’re all about one of her most recent Instagram posts that shows just how silly thigh gap pictures really are.
Lawrence posted two side-by-side photos of herself, taken just seconds apart. She looks perfectly gorgeous in both of them, but in the photo on the right, she’s sporting a pretty major thigh gap and in the one on the left, she’s not. Sounds crazy, right? But it just goes to show that the whole notion of the thigh gap is a myth. It’s the result of nothing more than changing up your posture for staging the “perfect” selfie.

In her caption, Lawrence writes, “No thigh gap or thigh gap who cares. We all think we want different things and we should because we are all different, there’s no wrong way just be the healthiest & happiest for you. I’ll be the first one to tell you pics are all about good lightening and angles. Always remember social medias not real life never let anyone else’s pics make you feel insecure about yourself. If you don’t look like her and she doesn’t look like you that’s how it’s meant to be. You are meant to be YOU no one else, your body is your home so love and respect it. When you look after it beautiful things happens.”
Can we get an amen? Because that is some MAJOR TRUTH right there. No one should compare themselves with what they see online. Or offline for that matter. You are your own person. Never forget there’s not just one way to be attractive. Individuality, uniqueness and authenticity are what make the world and the people in it truly beautiful.
High fives forever, Iskra!
