Mom calls online retailer 'disgusting' for sending her size 8 dress that barely fits 4-year-old
A mom took to Twitter on Tuesday to vent her frustrations about an online clothing retailer after she ordered a dress in U.K. size 8 from the brand, but received a garment so small it “just fit” her preschool-aged daughter.
Kirsty Dee told Fabulous Digital that she had bought a black dress in a T-shirt cut from PrettyLittleThing’s website because she wanted to wear it to a birthday party, but when she tried on the dress that was delivered to her, she could barely get it over her head. So she had her 4-year-old daughter, Molly, wear the frock instead, and it fit the little girl like a glove, according to a photo she tweeted.

“Really?????,” the mom asked the brand, while also tweeting a photo of the garment label to prove that the dress is supposed to be an adult size. She told Fabulous Digital that she was “so angry” when she received the basic black pocket detail T-shirt dress, which she paid almost $13 for.
Dee said the dress made her feel “awful” at first — but when she saw it fit her tiny daughter, she “laughed it off.” But that didn’t mean she was ready to let the company off the hook.
“I just think it's disgusting how they promote body confidence and then send me a dress not fit for a size 6 - 8,” she said.
PrettyLittleThing has been praised in the past for promoting body diversity by sharing images of plus-size models wearing the brand’s looks, which range in size from 2 to 26. Plus-size model Ashley Graham has even been an ambassador for the brand.
The Twitter account for PrettyLittleThing replied to Dee’s tweet the same day, with someone affiliated with the brand named Alina apologizing and offering to rectify the situation.
“So sorry to see that there is an issue with the dress you bought,” Alina wrote. “if you could please drop us a DM with your order number and the name of the item we can look into getting this sorted for you.”
Other dissatisfied customers have hit back against the brand before. Less than two weeks ago, Stephanie Stillie said she felt “physically sick” after claiming she received a romper from PrettyLittleThing that had “blood stains between the legs,” according to The Sun. “Clearly something wrong with your company processes,” she tweeted.
The brand refunded the garment, but not the $7.59 Stillie paid for next-day delivery. “Will most definitely not be ordering from there again. Back to the holiday shop as wishlist isn’t getting bought,” she said.

Other shoppers called out the brand in February for selling a skimpy bodysuit, claiming it would give them “front wedgie” if they tried to wear it. “Front. Thong. Two words that should never be linked together,” one person commented on parenting site Mumsnet.
Others called the outfit “a crime against humanity,” “disturbing on so many levels,” and “vulval floss.”
In January, the brand came under fire from another customer, who tweeted side-by-side photos of the $25.26 yellow dress she ordered from the company and the actual garment she received, asking, “Is this a joke? Thank you for this low quality, unflattering dress that looks nothing like the picture on the website. Really worth the money.”
