Looking for a fun and easy DIY activity to do with your child? TikToker Myriam Sandler (@mothercould) has you covered. Myriam shares a wide range of DIY activities and games on TikTok, including a recent video tutorial showing how she makes DIY “Shrinky Dinks” using plastic takeout containers. Myriam starts by cutting the bottom out of a takeout container. She makes sure to use a transparent plastic container, and cuts it into a rectangle shape.

Then, Myriam brings in her daughter to help with the rest of the activity. She places her toddler’s hand onto the plastic rectangle, then dips a paintbrush in a tub of vibrant pink acrylic paint. She paints directly onto the palm of her daughter’s hand, covering it in a thick coat of paint.

Then, she carefully presses her daughter’s hand onto the plastic. She applies pressure to the plastic, then removes her daughter’s hand, lifting it straight into the air to prevent smudging. A perfect pink imprint of the toddler’s hand is left on the plastic.

Next, Myriam repeats the process with a new sheet of plastic. This time, she paints her daughter’s foot bright pink and places it onto the plastic to leave an imprint.

Myriam carefully cuts the hand and foot shapes out of the plastic, then uses a hole puncher to punch a hole in each plastic sheet. Then, she places the plastic onto a parchment lined baking sheet and heats it in the oven at 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

When Myriam removes the plastic from the oven, it has shrunk down so that it now fits in the palm of Myriam’s hand! The video ends as Myriam ties a piece of ribbon through the holes in the “Shrinky Dinks” to turn them into cute decorations.

Viewers applauded Myriam’s brilliant DIY hack.
