Moment of prayer at Alabama restaurant goes viral
A video captured at a barbecue joint in Fultondale, Ala., is going viral after a woman encountered the owner reciting a morning prayer to employees and customers on camera and posted it to Facebook.
Maria Jefferson took to Facebook to write that she went to Full Moon BBQ to pick up her lunch on Monday when God led her to go inside for her food rather than order at the drive-thru. When she walked through the door, she quickly realized why He did when she came across a restaurant full of people listening as the owner Tony Teichmiller led a prayer circle.
According to her Facebook post, employees at Full Moon BBQ told Jefferson that Teichmiller encourages all workers to engage in prayer with him every morning.
“When I cast my eyes on Him and try to get my help from Him, that’s where the true help is,” Teichmiller is heard preaching. “And it doesn’t always look like what we want it to look like.”
Apparently his words resonated with many other people, as the video has racked up over 74,000 views since it was posted on Monday.
Neither Jefferson nor Teichmiller immediately responded to Yahoo Lifestyle’s request for comment. However, Jefferson told local Birmingham, Ala., news station WIAT that she’s excited to see a positive video get such a generous response.
“So many negative videos, fight videos, going on that get so much attention and for this to be happening and me, to witness this, it was a true blessing and I thank God for it,” Jefferson told the outlet. “It’s about God, it’s not about me or Full Moon or the owner.”
Teichmiller echoed the sentiment.
“It’s not about me, and people that know me well know that it’s not about me,” he told WIAT. “I’m not a great businessman, I’m not a great restaurateur, but I put it in His hands, and as I’ve said, He’s faithful, He tells us that in his word.”
