As the September 2 recall reveals, Missouri-based brand ConAgra Brands, Inc. is recalling 245,366 pounds of its "Banquet Chicken Strips Meal" products that were shipped to locations nationwide and sold online due to being potentially contaminated with "extraneous materials" — specifically plastic. The products in question were produced on June 20, 2023, July 11, 2023, and July 17, 2023 and were first discovered to pose a problem when ConAgra received a consumer complaint about plastic being in the chicken strip portion of the product. As a result, they experienced an oral injury after consumption.

While the chicken strips are no longer being sold in stores, the FSIS is concerned that the item may be stored in consumers' freezers. The recalled products are packaged in 8.9-ounce cartons that contain one entree of the "Banquet Chicken Strips Meal" and include best if used by dates of December 11, 2024, January 1, 2025 or January 7, 2025. Lot numbers — which are located on the side of the carton — are 5009317120, 5009319220 or 5009319820 and the establishment number for each is "EST. P-9." You can view the label of the affected product here.
Though there have been no other reports of injury or illness due to the consumption of the products, anyone who happens to have the entrees in their freezers is urged to throw them out or return them to the original place of purchase.
