More Than 300,000 Air Fryers are Being Recalled Due to Burn Hazard

Air fryer

The last thing anyone is looking forward to this holiday season is a faulty appliance that can potentially burn you worse than the one-liners you field every year by that family member who teases too much. If anything is getting roasted this Christmas holiday, it certainly should not be your fingers, or any other body part for that matter.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), however, not all body parts are safe for those who happened to have purchased an air fryer made by Empower Brands, as more than 300,000 are being recalled due to a burn hazard. Two models of the PowerXL dual-basket air fryer made by Empower Brands are in question, both of which were sold at popular retailers like Walmart, Target and Kohl’s. The specific model numbers being identified as a hazard are the DUAF-10 and the DUAF-005 Vortex Dual-Basket Air Fryers.

As of now, Empower Brands has received 41 reports of the product breaking during use — three of which citing cases of burns. Each unit features a plastic connector that can be used to combine two food baskets inside of the unit that has the potential to break during use. According to the alert, the result of this break is what poses the burn hazard.

The recalled air fryers were sold in black and cinnamon colors between the months of August 2021 and October 2023. Those who suspect that they may have one of these air fryers in their possession can receive a full refund by simply contacting Empower Brands immediately. The company can be reached toll-free at 866-704-9370 or online at www.prodprotect.com/recall/duaf. Just click on “Important Safety Recall Notice” for more information.
