NCIS Los Angeles had quite the eventful season 10. Deeks and Kensi got married, JAG’s Mac and Harm made an appearance (but not together), and the team handled their fair share of national security threats. Most of which were successful.

But there was one presence that was sorely lacking. Hetty Lange (Linda Hunt) was noticeably absent for many of the episodes, as Linda had gotten in a car accident in real life and needed time to recover. She finally returned for the big wedding, however we’ll never get that Hetty-less time back.

Now it seems CBS is trying to make up for it in season 11, which premieres in September. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill promised we’ll get a closer look at Hetty in an upcoming episode. He told TVLine that it “focuses on some of Hetty’s backstory, so that’s fun.” Agreed!

As if learning more about our favorite mysterious leader wasn’t exciting enough, that particular hour will be even more special. Eric Christian Olsen, who plays Deeks, is writing the script. Surely his knowledge about his on-screen boss will help make this a particularly interesting plotline.

It seems like forever since the NCIS: LA cast has graced our TV screens with new stories, so the next installment can’t come soon enough. Especially because we’ve heard there might be some hope for Mac and Harm after all—and we’re confident Hetty will have something to do with getting those kids back together.
