More locations part of this year's Art in April

MONROE — This year's Art in April will feature several new artists and businesses.

The annual art walk will take place 5:30-8 p.m. April 25 in downtown Monroe. Art in April is offered by the Downtown Monroe Business Network. Admission is free.

“We have more businesses than ever participating,” said event coordinator Paula Stanifer from the DMBN.

All the artists are from this area. Since it began in 2018, the event has drawn hundreds downtown every year.

Art in April is a self-guided walk through downtown Monroe businesses. Participating stores host displays of works by the artists. At most stops, the artist will be present. Their work includes several art genres. Some piece will be for sale. Some businesses also will offer refreshments and giveaways. Maps of the locations will be available at each site.

This year, crafts for children will be offered from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Dorsch Memorial Branch Library, 18 E. First St. At the Book Nook, 42 S. Monroe St., visitors can decorate luminary bags with Relay for Life participants.
