Morgan Wallen Provides Uplifting Health Update After Vocal Rest
Morgan Wallen is recovering ahead of schedule.
The country singer sent fans reeling when he was forced to postpone a number of shows after being placed on six weeks of vocal rest, but after just four, he's been cleared to hit the stage once again.
In an Instagram story posted yesterday evening, June 6, the musician shared a photo of himself relaxing on a fishing boat, writing, "The doc cleared me to talk and sing.. we back.”
Wallen first lost his voice after his show on April 22, and spent the next day trying to recover before canceling his show at the University of Mississippi's Vaught Hemingway Stadium shortly before he was set to take the stage on April 23.
He took 10 days of vocal rest before performing three shows in a row, feeling "terrible" by the final one. After getting scoped, he discovered that he had re-injured his vocal cords and was suffering from vocal fold trauma, leading him to begin six weeks of total vocal rest. "They want me not to talk at all, but they said if I need to, it's okay, for something like this," he explained in an Instagram video at the time.
He continued, "[The doctors] told me that if I do this the right way, that I'll get back to 100%. And they also said that if I don't listen and I keep singing, then I'll permanently damage my voice."
He's currently set to resume the One Night at a Time tour in Chicago on June 22. There's no word yet on whether he'll take the stage early or re-shift previously postponed dates from the next could of weeks in light of the news.
